Patra Alvilda (Carrington) DeLashmit
January 27th, 1924 - January 12th, 2016
Patra Alvilda DeLashmit the fifth of eleven children born to Herbert Harless and Edna (Evans) Carrington, passed away January 12th, 2016. Pat was born born January 27th, 1924 in Darden, Tennessee.
Her early years were spent in Darden Tennessee, Seneth, Missouri, and Beacon, Tennessee.
She married Robert Wayne DeLashmit on February 29th, 1956 in DeSoto County Mississippi. They made their first home in Memphis, Tennessee where all three of their children were born.
In 1964 they moved to Southern California, where they spent the next nine years. In 1973 the family moved to Scappoose, Oregon. Robert and Patra divorced in 1987.
Pat loved her family unconditionally. Pat was very active in her children, and Grandchildren's lives. They were her pride and joy. She attended all of their sporting events, so many in fact, that the Scappoose High School Boosters issued her a lifetime pass.
Regardless the circumstance Pat always chose the high road, and looked for the good in people.
Attending the annual family reunion in Tennessee was the highlight of her year.
Patra was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings - Lucille Bailey, Hugh Carrington, Luveda Bailey, Juanita Wright, Charlie Carrington, Jim Carrington and Wylene Bowman.
Patra leaves behind, her legacy ~ children, Michael DeLashmit (Lisa), MaDonna McClain (Jeff), and Tracy DeLashmit (Corinna) all of Scappoose, Oregon; grandchildren, Dustin Wilson of Vancouver, Washington, Dione Burchell, Jason, Cody, Kayla, and Brittney DeLashmit all of Scappoose,Oregon, Jeremy DeLashmit of St. Helens, Oregon and Mike DeLashmit of Jasmine, Georgia.; great-grandchildren, Peyton Powers of Vancouver, Washington, Layla DeLashmit of Jasmine, Georgia, Ashton, Parker, Isabelle, and Owen DeLashmit, and Lainey Patra, and Jace Carrington Burchell of Scappoose, Oregon and Korra DeLashmit of St. Helens, Oregon.
Patra's survivors include her sisters, Betty Kirk of Memphis, Tennessee, Jenice Doyle of Collierville, Tennessee and Norma Carrington of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; her aunt, Dorothy Carrington of Darden, Tennessee; her sister-in-law, Jo Carrington of Arlington, Tennessee; several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
