Phyllis Jean Moss' Obituary
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Columbia Funeral Home. Phyllis passed away April 24th in St. Helens; she was 85 years of age. Burial at Lakeview Cemetery, Polson, Montana.
Born October 17, 1925 in Encanto, California to Ezra Samuel and Maude Ethel Crone Beard. She was the 6th of 7 children. Her family move to St. Helens a short time after her birth and she graduated from St. Helens High School in 1944.
Phyllis married Amos Moss, January 18 1948 in St. Helens at the 1st Methodist church. She worked at the St. Helens J.C. Penny's until her first child was born and then she was a dedicated mother and homemaker. Phyllis was active in the PTA and volunteered at the city hall of Columbia City where they moved to in 1953. Phyllis loved to garden and had a bountiful flower garden she shared with friends and family. She enjoyed traveling to the beach, shopping and See's Candies.
Phyllis is survived by her children; Dan Moss of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joe Moss of Salem, Oregon, Cindy Stansbery of St. Helens and April Johnson of Gulf Port, Mississippi, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, sister Bonnie Sealey of Hemet, California and brother Vern Beard of Wilsonville, Oregon.
