Phyllis June Scott Olson
Passed away on January 30, 2006 at her home in Warren, Oregon. Her family and friends were at her side. She was 80 years old.
Phyllis was born on October 28, 1925 in Bismark, North Dakota to her parents; Grant Edward Scott and Emmy Carol Swanson Scott. She was an only child.
As a child, Phyllis lived in Bismark and Regan, North Dakota where she attended school and her mother was the teacher. She attended high school in Granite Falls, Minnesota. From high school she went on to Minnesota School of Business where she received Secretarial Training.
Phyllis met her soon to be husband Arlen V. Olson on a Greyhound Bus going from Maynard, Minnesota to the Twincities. They were married on May 16, 1947 in a small Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The couple lived in Minneapolis and had their four children, Alan, Gordon, Loren, and Caroline. They moved to Oregon in August of 1954.
Phyllis enjoyed reading, gardening, hunting and camping with family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling to Minnesota and Sweden to visit family.
Phyllis was a member of the First Lutheran Church and she taught Sunday School there for several years. She also worked for Arlens Body Shop on Highway 30 in St. Helens as a bookkeeper for 30 years.
Phyllis enjoyed volunteering. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and also for the local Senior Center for SNAP.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Arlen Olson of Warren, her sons Alan and Gordon Olson of St. Helens, and Loren Olson of Portland, and daughter Caroline DuBois of St. Helens. She also has eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens.
