Randall Eugene Stafford's Obituary
Randy was born to James H. Stafford & Gladys "Marge" Stafford in Concordia, Kansas.
After the family moved to Warren, Oregon in 1955, Randy attended Warren Grade School and Scappoose High School, where he graduated in 1966.
He was a gifted athlete in cross country and track under Coach Anderson at Scappoose H.S., where he excelled in high jump.
Randy served in Viet Nam with the U.S. Air Force between 1966 and 1972 as a fuel systems specialist. He then went to work for Oregon Steel Mills in maintenance and later as maintenance planner until his passing.
Randy was a free spirit, living life his way. He was an avid salmon and steelhead fisherman, photographer and bicyclist.
In his later years, he combined his photography with his love of bird watching, and was a fixture at many popular birding spots in Oregon, particularly Retenaur Road on Sauvie Island.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by his son, Shaun Stafford, whom he dearly loved, and siblings, Linda Joseph of Centennial, Colorado, JoAnn Montgomery of Peoria, Arizona, Joe Stafford of Portland, Oregon, Rod Stafford of Warren, Oregon, Tom Stafford, of Fortine, Montana and Brad Stafford of Scappoose, Oregon.
We will all miss Randy's gruff manner, which was always overshadowed by his generosity and kindness.
A life celebration will be held on June 18, 2011 for Randy's family and friends.
