Obituary of Raymond Louis Lires
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held, 4:00 PM, Saturday, February 12th at the Beaver Homes Grange Hall, 31105 Beaver Homes Rd, Rainier. Ray passed away, February 5, 2011 in Longview, Washington. He was 67 years old.
Ray was born November 8, 1943 at Long Beach, California to Andrew & Barbara House Lires, the 3rd of four children. He graduated from David Starr Jordon High School in 1961 as the valedictorian. He later attended California State University, Long Beach. He married Mary Louise Robinson, April 4, 1965 at Long Beach. They were married 45 years.
Ray worked as an electrician for Southern California Edison Electric Company for many years before moving the family to St. Helens in 1978. He then moved to Rainier in 1980. He worked for PGE at Trojan and Beaver, Oregon until 2000 when he retired. He was a recent member of the St. Helens Moose Lodge. Ray enjoyed poker, NASCAR, and motorcycles. He raced trials and desert races in the Baja and the Mojave Desert.
Ray is survived by his son, Joe and his wife Cisi of Columbia City, Oregon, Grandchildren; Mica Lyn Cross and Robert Lires, great grandson; Andrew Cross, sisters; Pat Brown of Snohomish, Washington and Betty Jean Poole of Escondido, California. Preceded by his brother Thomas.
