Raymond Dwight Rodabaugh Jr.'s Obituary
Raymond “Butch” Rodabaugh Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 67, in his home in St. Helens, Oregon.
Ray was born on November 20, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was raised by his mother Virginia and “Dad” Don. He has lived in many places throughout his life including Michigan, Arizona, California and Oregon. Ray met his wife Patricia, and they married in 1991 in Phoenix Arizona. They recently celebrated 28 years of marriage together.
Ray honorably served our country with the United States Marine Corp. as a Helicopter Hydraulic Pneumatic Mechanic and a Helicopter door gunner. He fought in the Vietnam War and participated in Operation Saklolo in the Philipines. During his service he received many medals including “National Defense Service Medal”, “Vietnam Service Medal”, “Vietnam Campaign Medal”, “Presidential Unit Citation”, “Good Conduct Medal”, and “Rifle Sharpshooter”.
Ray had a passion for assembling model cars, hunting, camping, outdoor activities, oil lamps and firearms. He enjoyed watching westerns, and of course, “John Wayne”, Chuck Norris, Clint Eastwood, and MASH. He loved dogs, but he had a very special bond with his canine companion, Molly.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Patricia, two sons Jason and Jeremy, his mother, one brother and two sisters, and several grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his dad and grandmother.
There will be a memorial service held in Ray’s honor, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at St. Frederic Church in St. Helens, at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon to follow. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on February 11, 2020 at 2:30 PM.
