Richard Edgar Barger's Obituary
Richard Edgar "Butch" Barger passed away after a lengthy illness, at home on May 19th in St. Helens, Oregon; he was 68 years of age.
Richard Edgar "Butch" Barger was born September 25, 1943 in Portland, Oregon to Donald Clair and Pearl Lee Barger the 2nd of three children. He attended Buckman Grade School and Washington High School. Out of high school Butch went to work at the Shipyards joining the "International Brotherhood Of Boilermakers; Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers & Helpers, AFL-CIO ". He started work in Local 72 and later when the Union split he became a Field Worker in Local 500 and continued working out of Local 500 until he retired.
On February 24, 1962 he married the love of his life Barbara JoAnn Kelly in Vancouver, Washington. They were married for 50 years.
Butch is survived by his wife Barbara, mother; Pearl Barger of St. Helens, children; Raymond L. Barger of Deer Island and Suzanne M. Barger-Kallio of Columbia City, five grandchildren; Timothy R. Turner, Kristle R. Turner, Nicholas A. Barger-Anundi, Adrianna B. Breckenridge, Alexander L. Barger, and great granddaughter; Britin Lea Barger-Anundi, sister; Lovetta Eileen Tweed of Kaiser, Oregon. and three nephews, Warren, Shawn, and Brian Gould.
He was preceded in death by His Father Donald Clair Barger and Brother Robert Henry Lee.
Celebration of Life gathering will be held, 1:00pm, Saturday, June 16th at the Caples House,
1915 1st Street, Columbia City, Oregon.
