Richard James Goffeney's Obituary
Richard James Goffeney of Scappoose, Oregon died July 17, 2020 at the age of 88. He was born October 24, 1931 in San Diego, California to James and Mary (Watts) Goffeney. Richard grew up in Portland and attended Benson High School. He later joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War.
He was a long-time resident of Scappoose after moving here from Goshen, Oregon many years ago. He was a proud volunteer firefighter at the Scappoose Fire Department for many years where he was still an active Lieutenant and worked as an EMT. In his spare time Richard enjoyed racing cars and working on 4wheel drives.
Richard is survived by his children; Steve Goffeney, Beth Ubiles, Tami Geist and Stuart Goffeney; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Cynthia and Barbara.
A funeral service will be held Monday, July 27, 2020 at 10:30 am at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens with a private burial to follow at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon.
