Richard L. Johnson's Obituary
Richard L. "Dick" Johnson was born on May 16, 1932 in Long Beach, CA. to Kenneth & Lila Caddington Johnson.
He died at his home surrounded by family in Scappoose on March 22, 2010 at the age of 77.
He joined the Navy at age 17 and traveled extensively until his tour ended in 1953.
Using the electrician skills developed in the Navy, Dick ran his electrical business in San Diego, CA. until 1980 when he went to work for Roseburg Forrest Products where he worked in management for eight years until he retired.
Dick and his wife, June, traveled in their boat in the Puget Sound and Vancouver Island area for about three years until Dick accepted an offer from Roseburg Forrest Products to work on special projects. He did this for four years until he truly retired.
After Dick's final retirement, Dick & June traveled around the United States for a year. They especially enjoyed the East Coast and the most southern part of Florida. They spent time in Texas and Yuma.
Dick and June's final move was to Scappoose in 2000. The move was prompted by the many friends they had in this part of the country.
He received his pilot's license while living in San Diego and was able to log in 5, 000 hour of flying! Dick's love of flying brought him to making and flying model airplanes. He also loved his boating, canning the produce he grew, as well as cooking.
Dick met his wife, June, in 1971. They were married three years later in 1974.
