Richard Dale Oliver, age 84, was born in Newport, MN, on May 4, 1929, to James & Hazel Oliver. He had 5 bothers and 2 sisters who all preceded him in death.
Richard was married to Donna Rose Tucker for 51 years. Who preceded him in death in Nov. of 1999.
Richard died peacefully in his sleep on January 16th at Avamere of St Helens, where he was loved and cared for by a wonderful staff. Richard served in the US Army for 2 years and then again when he was drafted to serve in the Korean War for 2 more years in 1950. He moved his family from Los Angeles, Ca. to Deer Island in 1964 where he lived the better part of 60 years. He never liked the rain much but loved the country.
Richard is survived by his children, Rick Oliver (Robin) of Deer Island, Nancy Harlow (James) of St Helens, & Jeff Oliver (Monique) of Deer Island, 8 Grandchildren and 16 Great grandchildren, who he absolutely adored. He was always a family man. He loved music (played guitar and organ), playing games, helping to work on cars or building a house, a model airplane, cabin, chicken coup or some new creation he came up with. For sure a jack of all trades. His generosity and forgiving heart was amazing. He was always willing to help out when he could.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was laid to rest at Columbia Memorial Garden beside his wife. His services were held on January 20th at the Kingdom hall in Scappoose.
