Richard Allen Ziglinski (Dick or Ziggy) was born January 3, 1943 in Newberg, Oregon and passed on December 19, 2016. He married his wife, Susan, in 1965 in Portland. In 1993 they moved to
Columbia City. Before that, they lived and raised their family in North Portland where Dick was employed by Pennsalt/Pennwalt/Auto-Chem for 34 years. Dick also operated his own auto mechanic business. Dick was very active as the Athletic Director and a fund raiser for Holy Cross School. He also served a number of terms as President of Portsmouth Little League, which included time coaching. He was an active volunteer for the Columbia Boys Club. After moving to Columbia City, Oregon he worked part time for the Columbia City Public Works.
Dick and Sue's favorite pastime was traveling. They traveled extensively around the world trying to see as many places as possible. This included most of the states, Canada, Mexico, Pacific Islands, the continent of Asia and Europe.
Dick is survived by his wife, Susan, his sons, Todd of Eugene, Oregon and Scott (Edwina) of Ireland. He has 3 grandchildren. Audrey is a student at the University of Oregon; Charlie is a senior at Churchill High School; and Cian is a secondary school student in Ireland. Dick is survived by his siblings, Roberta Owsley, Dan, Janice Hartung, Mark, Ken and Mary Catherine.
Over the last ten years, Dick became a regular at Skinny's, a gas station/coffee shop. Up to two or three times a day, Dick would have coffee and enjoy the conversation of the staff or fellow customers. This helped keep his spirits up during the last few years of his life. The family would like to express its gratitude to the Skinny's community.
A Celebration will be held at a later date.
