Funeral Services will be held on, Thursday, October 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Columbia Funeral Home followed by a vault interment at Columbia Memorial Gardens.
Robert A. Watt Bob passed away on October 8, 2010 with his wife Betty by his side. He was 88 years old. Bob was born in the St. Helens Oregon hospital on 4th Street on February 18, 1922 to William and Reta Henski Watt. He had an older sister, Rose, and a younger brother, Bill. He graduated from St. Helens High School during the great depression and found work in Alaska for about 6 months, then returned to Oregon and entered the CCC workforce before joining the U.S. Navy during World War II. He met Betty June Sandin while on shore leave in Long Beach California and they were married in August 1945 in St. Helens and their first child Nancy was born in 1947. Bob moved his family to the mill town of Wauna Oregon where children Ronald and Mary joined the growing family. When the Wauna mill closed, the Watt family moved to Scappoose and shortly thereafter Bob followed in his father's and brother's footsteps and joined the ILWU Longshoremen. In 1964 their last child Richard was born. Bob worked on the waterfront until his retirement at age 62. Bob was a huge sports fan and was involved with all kinds of youth ball teams. The family spent summers camping and traveling all over the Western United States. After retirement, Bob and Betty began traveling around the world. Their adventures took them to Mexico, Alaska, China, Russia, Australia, Sweden, England, Spain, Portugal to name just a few. Bob is survived by his wife Betty, his children Nancy Monroe Fairview, Ron Watt & Gwen Portland, Mary Fancher & Frank Scappoose and Rich Watt & Christi Scappoose, and his brother William Watt. He has 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
