Robert "Bob" Jennings' Obituary
On July 16,2024, Robert “Bob” Russell Jennings, 87, passed away at his residence surrounded by family in Scappoose, Oregon.
Born to Milburn and Marion Campbell Jennings, May 24, 1937, in Bend, Oregon. He graduated from West Linn High school and immediately joined the United States Marines Corps. He served his country from 1955-1959. After returning home to Portland, at the age of twenty-two, he met the love of his life, Carolyn Donna Doty and they were married on September 11, 1959 and they were married for fifty years. During their time together, they had 3 beautiful daughters, 6 granddaughters, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, not to be forgotten, were the numerous fur babies (Dad even let mom feed the raccoons in the backyard), that were loved unconditionally.
He spent most of his working life at Freightliner Trucks in Portland, Oregon, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Dallas, Texas. He retired after forty plus years.
Bob loved sports, fishing, golf, camping and any outdoor activity. He was an avid and devoted fan of the LA Dodgers, his favorite baseball team, and the Portland Trailblazers, basketball team. In 1975, he joined the Milwaukie Elks, BPOE 2032 (now known as 142) and became an officer right away. He went through the ranks and ascended to the highest rank of Exalted Ruler.
Bob never met a stranger. His infectious laugh and smile were among many of the qualities that he possessed. His life stories that he spoke about many times were told in a way that you thought you were hearing them for the first time. He loved to tease often but was gentle and kind. This man of great strength will be missed dearly by not only his immediate family, but friends who knew him well.
