Robert Elsworth Hamerin

Robert Elsworth Hamerin, of St. Helens, passed away Saturday evening. He was 89 years old.
Robert was born to Erik and Sula Hamerin on August 3, 1919. He grew up in North Portland and attended Roosevelt High School. In 1939, Robert Joined the United States Marine Corps and honorably served at Iwo Jima and the Midway Islands.
In 1944, he married Dorothy Meny who, for the next 64 years, he lovingly referred to as the "boss." Robert worked as a purchasing agent for Chevron for 35 years before retiring in 1980. In 1981 he and Dorothy moved to St. Helens where he enjoyed working on his 20 acres of property.
His wife, sons; Robert J. Hamerin and Richard E. Hamerin, and their three grandchildren, Belinda Juge Hamerin, Lacey Hamerin, and Eric Hamerin survive him.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at St. Frederic Catholic Church, followed by a burial at Willamette National Cemetery.
