ROBERT EUGENE THOMAS
Robert (Bob) Thomas, 76, of St. Helens passed away May 4, 2017 while surrounded by his loved ones.
Bob was born to Robert and Ethlyn Thomas on February 16, 1941 in Isabelle, Kansas and moved to St. Helens, Oregon when he was two. Bob attended St. Helens High School and graduated in June of 1959. On August 22, 1959, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Sylvia.
Bob worked at Linnton Plywood for 45 years then went on to drive a school bus for 10 years. He also enjoyed the 17 years spent as a Volunteer Fireman in St. Helens.
Bob was known as a kind soul with a great love for his family. He was a very active man who enjoyed visiting the coast and clam digging, camping, golfing, coaching ball teams and going to ball games, playing with his great grandkids, taking walks, and playing Bingo.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia, his 3 children, Tammy Scamfer and husband, Dave (Scappoose), Patty Brissett and husband, Bob (St. Helens), and Don Thomas and wife, Kelly (Warrenton), 8 grandchildren (Doug, Jodi, Jami, Lacy, Brandon, Kayla, Kody, and Kory), 6 great-grandchildren (Dallyn, Gage, Jordan, Owen, Eli, and Karter), and 3 sisters, Marlene Rhine, Mildred Williams, and Betty Winkler.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ethlyn, and he and Sylvia's 4t h baby, Douglas Robert.
Bob's Graveside Service will be held this Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 1pm at the Columbia Memorial Gardens located at 54490 Columbia River Highway, Scappoose, OR 97056. To know Bob, was to love Bob. May he rest in peace and live forever in our hearts.
