Ronald Nelson Koop, 73, of St. Helens, Oregon died September 29, 2016. He was born in San Diego, the son of Dolores Koop. He grew up in Wimer, Oregon and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1961. He attended Pacific Union College and Southern Oregon College from 1961-63.
In 1963 he married Carolyn Koehn in Reno, Nevada. In 1964 they moved to Ruch, Oregon and raised their children, Connie and Michael. In 1994 Ron and Carolyn moved to St. Helens, Oregon.
Between 1963 and 1975 Mr. Koop drove truck for Bob Jacks and Mitchell Brothers. In 1975 he drove for Western Highway Oil until he retired in 2007. After retirement, he drove for Wilcox and Flegal. Ron served Ruch Community Bible Church as a deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher and superintendent. Ron served Warren Christian Fellowship as an elder, Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, and setting up chairs. He was involved in Scappoose and St. Helens senior centers.
He leaves his beloved wife Carolyn; his daughter Connie and her husband JR Baker of Portland; and his son Michael of Medford and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and 2 half-brothers.
A Memorial Service will be held at Warren Community Fellowship in Warren, Oregon on Saturday October 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
