Rose C. Kuffel's Obituary
Rose C. Kuffel was born on September 23, 1917 in St. Helens, Oregon to Bartholomew & Madeline Isiah.
She died at Hopewell House in Portland on November 13, 2009 at the age of 92.
Rose spent her whole life in St. Helens, she went to John Elementary School and High School at the site of the old Condon Elementary School. She married Leonard Kuffel on June 10, 1939 at St. Frederic Catholic Church. They were married for 30 years before his passing on March 31, 1969 after suffering a massive heart attack and being involved in an auto & chip truck accident, after he had gone to Boise Cascade papermill to sign his retirement papers hoping to start his retirement on the first of April.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and a charter member of the Womens's Quarter Club. She also volunteered at the senior center twice a week. She worked many years as a salesperson at St. Vincent DePaul unitl retiring at the age of 75.
Her hobbies included crocheting, clam digging at Long Beach, WA., loved playing Bingo three times a week, collecting coins, stamps, bells, plates, dolls and spoons from different places that she traveled to. She liked to travel especially to warm weather places like Hawaii and Florida. She really enjoyed attending her grandchildrens ball games even though at times she was having difficulty with shortness of breath.
Survivors include: Son: Ron Kuffel and Daughter: Kathy Jacobs both of St. Helens; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Viewing & visitation: 9-5 & 7:00 PM Rosary Wednesday both at Columbia Funeral Home
Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, 11/19/09 at 11:00 AM at St. Frederic Catholic Church-St. Helens
Committal service & vault interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Scappoose, OR.
