Russell Kent's Obituary
Russell was born on the beautiful island of Okinawa Japan to Michael Thomas Kent, Jr. and Toshiko Shimabuku. Shortly after he was born, he moved to Texas with his family. Russell grew up in North Central Texas: Belton, then Hurst, and finally in Irving. He was a brilliant individual. He excelled in art and building things. He would always win awards for his intricate drawings and models he would build by hand. In His teenage years, he loved skateboards and punk rock. He spent many a day at Jeff Phillips Skate Park in Dallas, Texas as a teenager. He and his friends would tinker on their boards changing out trucks and adding on the grip tape. He was a multitalented individual and was pretty good at breakdancing, cooking, and being a protector.
As Russell grew into an adult, he held many different professions. Citibank, industrial painter, and finally trying to make it as an ironworker. He was always good with his hands. He was a relentlessly hard worker, supporting his family the best he could. Russell was such a kind hearted man. He had the patience of a saint, hardly lost his temper, and if you needed it, he would give you the shirt off his back. Russell was a true animal lover. He loved his dogs, especially his Doberman and Pomeranians, his chickens, he even had room in his heart for a tiny rat named Fizzgig, and an occasional garden snake that would be roaming amongst the flowers.
Russell was a strong person with a strong spirit. He faced many trials and hardships that no one else should have had to endure. He took on life and made the best of it. He was a survivor, a great big brother, and a loved father and husband.
