Ruth E. Cox of St. Helens, Oregon died November 18, 2014 at the age of 85.
Ruth was born May 6, 1929 in Bisbee, North Dakota to Chancy and Dorothy (Mathis) Weiker. Her family moved west to Portland when she was still very young. Ruth married James E. Cox on December 21, 1946 in Portland, Oregon. In 1957 Ruth and James moved out to Columbia County where they both stayed until their deaths.
Ruth was very involved in the Scappoose VFW, she also enjoyed knitting lap robes for the veterans at the Portland Veterans Hospital. She was an Area Director for the Special Olympics and she volunteered for the Red Cross. Ruth was also a member and Deacon at Plymouth Presbyterian Church in St. Helens.
In her spare time she enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, being outdoors and taking her dog for walks.
Ruth is survived by her children; Robert Cox, Kenneth Cox, Heidi Haberman, Eric Cox and her adopted daughter Mary Fields; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband James and a son Larry James Cox.
A memorial service will be held at Plymouth Presbyterian Church on November 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM.
