Sarah Ellen Knudsen's Obituary
Sarah Ellen (Wheatley) Knudsen passed away on June 15, 2022, in Warren Oregon.
Sarah was born July 6, 1931, in Clatsop Plains, Oregon to Leroy and Sarah (Harshberger) Wheatley.
Sarah married Richard Knudsen October 10, 1950, in Portland, Oregon. They have five children: Karen Ann (Knudsen) Dowdle, Mikel A Knudsen, Bruce N Knudsen, Cathy Ann Knudsen and Craig R Knudsen.
Sarah had many passions in life but focused most of her energies on Love of the Lord, her family and love of this nation. She was actively engaged in all these areas her entire adult life. She will be remembered by those who knew her well for one or more of these areas. Other areas of enjoyment were being on a women’s baseball team, working in her flower beds or just going on hikes in the beautiful mountains.
Sarah’s devotion to her belief’s were shown in many ways. She was an avid teacher of the gospel in many areas through out her life. She served a mission to Africa with Richard and many fond memories of the people and culture she encountered there. She taught High School-aged youth and early morning Seminary class and love the devotion the kids had to meet on school days at 6:00 AM every day.
Sarah loved her family. Every single child or grandchild would think that they were her favorite and they would be right. She cherished every drawing that was produced. She also held onto every letter and would read them over and over. With her love also came the mother bear attitude of not to mess with any of my cubs.
Sarah loved our nation and was very troubled with how our freedoms were being eroded. She believed that our nation needed to turn to truly following God. Over the last several years she would say that her fight was drawing to an end and it was now the next generation’s responsibility to save our country.
Sarah is survived by her sister Evelyn Dierking, daughter Karen Ann (Knudsen) Dowdle, sons Bruce N Knudsen, Craig R Knudsen as well as numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
