Shirley Hruby's Obituary
Shirley Hruby of Scappoose, Oregon passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014.
Service will be held June 9, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Scappoose, Oregon.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens, Oregon.
Shirley was born January 11, 1929 in Giltner, Nebraska to Raymond and Merle Holcomb. She grew up and attended school in Arcadia, Nebraska. After graduation she taught school in a one-room rural school house.
On June 1, 1949 she married Edwin Hruby and together they farmed and raised two children until relocating to Oregon in 1961. In addition to being an avid homemaker and mother, Shirley enjoyed sewing, growing flowers, fishing, and crabbing on the Oregon Coast with her husband and children.
Shirley is survived by her husband Edwin of Scappoose, Oregon, her son Dennis of Corvallis, Oregon; her daughter Rhonda of San Diego, California; brothers Boyd Holcomb of Missouri and Douglas Holcomb of Arcadia, Nebraska, as well as four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
