Obituary of Shirley May Wells Chulufas
A Celebration of Life Service will be held, 2PM, Thursday, March 1st at Plymouth Presbyterian in St. Helens. Shirley passed away in Longview on February25th. She was 82 years of age.
Shirley was born May 9, 1929 in Thunder Hawk, South Dakota to Emil C. and Emma Hattie Rogers Jahnel, the eighth of nine children. She was schooled in Lemmon, SD and after high school she attended nursing school in Bismarck, ND. She moved to Pasco, Washington for her 1st nursing job. It was there in 1952 she met and married Trygve Randen, he preceded her in death in 1972. In 1953 they moved to Scappoose where for the next 20 plus years she worked as a nurse for Physicians & Surgeons Hospital in Portland and later retired from Holiday Park Hospital. In 1978 she moved to Vancouver until she moved back to the Rainier area in 2001 where she lived until her death. Shirley married her good friend Richard Chulufas in 2000. Shirley enjoyed golfing, fishing, flying with friends in private airplanes and knitting.
Shirley is survived by her husband; Richard Chulufas, daughter Annie Randen-Queen of Rainier, grandchildren; Haley and James Queen, siblings; Ida Schauss of Kennewick, WA, Larry Jahnel of Pasco, WA and Lester Jahnel of Oklahoma City, OK.
