Stanley Jay Kauffman “Jay”
October 6, 1931 ~ September 10, 2014
Jay was born in Kenmare, North Dakota on October, 6, 1931. He moved to Oregon with his family around 1940. He graduated from Albany High School. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and was enlisted from 1949 to 1953. Jay graduated from Oregon State and Portland State with a Bachelors Degree in teaching in 1965.
He married Kathleen Ann Depew in 1965. They lived in Portland, Oregon until 1970 when the family moved to St. Helens where he has resided since.
Jay worked for Multnomah Plywood until retiring. He then worked for Fat Boys Pizza as a delivery man, a job he truly enjoyed.
His favorite past times included puzzles, traveling with his siblings, watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy”.
Jay had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he enjoyed spending time with.
Jay is survived by his significant other; Pricilla Hicks, brothers; Ken Kauffman, Robert Kauffman, and John Kauffman, sisters; Millie Wyatt, Shirley Feng, Judy Cavanaugh, sons; John Kauffman, Jayson Kauffman, and Michael Kauffman. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Jay was reserved and laid back. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He would do anything for anyone that he could, always the man that would give the shirt off his back!
Jay passed away September 10, 2014.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens, Oregon with a reception following at The Village Inn, 535 S. Columbia River Hwy St. Helens, Oregon.
