When I was younger I member Aunt Susan had baked apple pies after Grandma Stacy funeral, they were delious, she has always been a great cook I will miss you Aunt Susan

I remember when I was little I always was excited to visit grandma on the holidays and summer BBQs with her and grandpa. She always made me laugh and always welcomed her grandchildren with open arms. She was a phenominnol cook. She had a passion for art and nature. She would talk to me about how she would want to walk in the woods and scatter wild flowers. She was a woman of character and so full of life. She and I would both discuss her art . and I always admired the forest painting she never had a chance to finish. She loved us grandchildren and I always will hold a special bond between myself and her in my heart.
How do I share a memory of Suzie? There are so many...
To the family of Susan Stacey.......
Chuck, Audrey, Andy, Brenda & all those beautiful grandbabies
As you all know, I first met Suzy in Columbia City before we were even in school. She lived up the street from my Uncle Bruce Oester......we played together many times there. Than low and behold, we started school at Yankton, and there she was. We were inseperable from the start.
At Yankton, even the teachers referred to us as the bobsy twins, cause we were always together.
If I wasn’t at her house, she was at mine....as we grew older, we walked the miles between our houses so many times, way to many to remember. We laughed, sang, danced, swam, talked non stop and of course probably tried to eat all the food at her house and mine. Our adventures roaming the country side were the best times I can remember........did you know?
We were once being chased by a bear.......walking from Dentons to her house....scared ourselves near to death....come to find out the next day....all of our imagination.
We walked the creek near her house one time and came upon an area that looked like no human had ever been there...it was so beautiful, we decided not to disturb the water....so got out of creek and walked around that spot.
We were going to follow the creek to the mouth of the Columbia River one day from my house. My mom said go ahead but be back before dark.....we walked and walked and when we saw the sun was soon to be setting, we got out of creek and headed in the direction of the road, we had not even gotten 2 miles from my house....the creek had so many turns in it...took us all day....my mom knew that would happen....
During the summer we were always sleeping outside and after her mom and dad were asleep we wondered around....other Trenholm kids were with us sometimes....one night, her mom said we could sleep outside but we were not to leave the yard.......lights went out in the house (parents were in bed, so we thought) and we were crawling along the side of the house...me in front, and what happened? Well, I ran into her moms legs, i did not even look up, just said Suzy back up, she said why, I said just back up, she did, I did.....we went back to bed...her mom never said a word.......we laughed like crazy!!
Than of course, there was Dentons Dam......had so darn much fun. Suzy was always drawing and writing stories.....we made plays and entertained the neigborhood families. We performed at the Grange Hall.....she was so talented and we loved to sing and dance.
Did you know that one year in December we went Christmas Caroling between her house and mine and back........we were attacked by bats....I believe Charles and Jimmy were with us that time.
There are so many more....Suzie was my forever friend...I love her...and I miss her already!!
My prayers to all the family...May God comfort you and give you peace!!
Love to you all!!!!
I have so many wonderful memories of Susan that it is so hard to narrow down to just one. In my teen years I spent a lot of "over nights" with her when my brother Chuck was working Grave yard shift. We stayed up late playing Gin Rummy and girl talking and really enjoying each other's company. Susan was warm, loving and had a great sense of humor which made her a lot of fun to be with. When I was 15 I got my divers permit and Susan taught me to drive in their new Salmon colored Plymouth Satellite, letting me drive the several mile jaunt out to her mother's house in Trenholm on numerous occasions, and all around St. Helens to give me valuable instruction as I drove. She was always so patient and never stressed at all even though I was a beginning driver, and as all beginning drivers do...probably made many mistakes. I loved her like a big sister and will always cherish her friendship and memory.
