Sylvia M. Halstead, 95, of St. Helens, Oregon died on Sunday Jan. 6,2013
Sylvia was born in Sioux City , Iowa on September 9, 1917 and grew up in Iowa.
In 1937 she was married to C. Lewis Halstead. He preceded her in death in 1998.The couple moved to Portland in 1942 and then to Wilark, Oregon in 1948. She moved to St. Helens in the early 1950’s. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed reading and also was accomplished in writing poetry. She loved ballroom dancing and singing.
She is survived by her sons; Donald ,Steven, Michael and John. Also by Two daughters Judy Pipkin and Susan Riley. 15 grandchildren,26 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved companion of several years Donald Butcher Sr..She was preceded in death by One daughter Shirley and by three sons James, Charles and Robert.
Private interment will be held at Columbia Memorial Gardens in Scappoose.
