Obituary of Tamara Tammy Jo Collard
Tammy passed away peacefully at her home in Scappoose, Oregon, on October 14th in the company of her family and friends. She was 50 years old.
Tammy was born in Castro Valley, California, to Charles and Donna May Dana Benesch. Raised in Corvallis, Tammy was the 2nd of 5 children. She graduated from Corvallis High School and went on to receive her Bachelor's degree in nutrition from Oregon State University. The following year Tammy earned her paralegal certificate from UCLA and began a career in law. Tammy worked in Portland for the law firm of Hoffman, Hart and Wagner from October of 1994 until June of 2010 when she stepped down due to her illness.
Tammy married Stephen Collard also raised in Corvallis on July 12, 1986, in Albany, Oregon. They moved to Southern California in 1986, returning to Oregon in 1994, and have lived in Scappoose since 1995. She loved all kinds of activities involving family and friends such as cooking, restaurants, music, hiking, biking, camping, and travel. She cared deeply for the family pets and had a passion for growing things. She enjoyed both in a large and beautiful garden.
In addition to a large extended family, Tammy is survived by her husband; Steve, children; Kevin and Kate Collard, mother; Donna Benesch of Redmond, Oregon, siblings; Dana Benesch of Redmond, Oregon, Craig Benesch of Cascade, Idaho, Kent Benesch of Powell Butte, Oregon, Kim Benesch of Crescent Lake, Oregon, and grandmother; Garnet Dana of Spokane, Washington.
The Tamara Collard Memorial Fund has been set up at the St. Helens Community Federal Credit Union, 52691 Columbia River Highway, Scappoose, OR 97056.
Donations to this fund will be used for a new memorial park bench to be located at Veteran's Park, in Scappoose. All funds not used for the park bench will be donated to the Columbia Pacific Food Bank. A Celebration of Life Gathering and Dedication will be held 1:00 PM, November 7, 2010 at Scappoose Veterans Park, off JP Morgan West St.
