Terrence Evan Kjornes' Obituary
Terrence Evan Kjornes died in his sleep Sunday, November 11, 2007 while on vacation in Roatan, Honduras.
Born January 11, 1953, in Portland, Oregon, to Evan and Hazel Thompson Kjornes, Terry grew up in St. Helens and lived most of his adult life in Warren and Scappoose. While attending St. Helens Jr. High, he wrestled in the 168 lb weight class. His award letter read ?Won 20 of 22 matches, led the team in pins and was never pinned?. Football was his chosen sport at St. Helens High School where he was voted All League Second Team as an offensive guard and First Team as a defensive tackle. He received the Eddie R. Morris Inspirational Player Award. He graduated in 1971.
After high school Terry joined the apprenticeship program and became an electrician. He worked for Watco Electric and Christensen Electric before owning his own electrical contracting firm, Gold Star Electric, since 2002.
An avid ?guy on the go? Terry enjoyed many activities. His father thought he may have been part fish because of his love of the water: scuba diving, water skiing, swimming and boating. He also loved to golf, knowing he would never be a great golfer, but it was just great to be outside. Last month he golfed his ?best game ever?. Terry enjoyed snow skiing, and in later years snowboarding. Traveling was one of his loves and he did it as often as possible, traveling to many places like Norway, Sweden, Turkey, Belize, Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico, Florida, Las Vegas, Reno, and many others. But his favorite place was going each summer to the Snake River to camp with his family. Terry had a great outlook on life and liked to joke around and quote funny movies. He also liked to make beer with Mike O?Grady, and drink it too! He loved to gamble and his game of choice was craps. He was a great electrician. But most of all, he loved his children.
Terry is survived by: his children Lindsie Kjornes of Warren, Carrie Kjornes of Warren, Dane Kjornes of the U. S. Air Force, stationed in England and Kristian Kjornes of Scappoose, his father Evan Kjornes of St. Helens, sisters Becky DuBois of Warren and Dawn Ritenour of Columbia City, and his children?s mother Francy Kjornes of Warren.
He was preceded in death by his mother Hazel Kjornes.
