Trudy M. Martin's Obituary
Trudy M. Martin
Trudy Martin was first and foremost a wife to Allen Martin, and a mother to Frankie Joe ?Buffalo? Martin. She made her home in the Turtle Mountains of North Dakota, where she raised her son. She also opened her heart and home to others, whom she loved as she loved her own son.
An accomplished artist, Trudy was proud of her Native Chippewa Heritage, creating Powwow Regalia for the children in her community, as well as moccasins for the newborn children of friends and relatives. Always modest when it came to her art, she gave most of her creations to others with a prayer and love, asking nothing in return.
Trudy came back to Portland, where she was born and raised, to help her lifelong friend and sister-in-spirit deal with the breast cancer her mother was fighting. After helping out, Trudy decided to stay on in Portland. The winters in North Dakota were beginning to take their toll on her health, so she made plans to make a home out here for her son.
Quick witted with a good sense of humor, Trudy was a joy to those who loved and understood her. I think I speak for all who survive her when I say that the heartbreak of losing her will take a long long time to heal, but take solace in the thought that she has finally found the answers to all her unanswered questions, and she is finally at peace. May she walk with her creator.
Some, but not all of those who survive her are her mother, Doris P. Swanson, her twin, Dorie, her son, FrankieJoe, her sister Ginger, her brothers Jack, Tony, Johnny, her step-mother Chi Chi, and too many others to list.
We will hold your memory in our hearts forever and a day, Trudy.
I love you more, sister. Always with you in spirit, Becky
