Trudy Prewitt
Trudy Prewitt of St. Helens passed away Feb. 10, 2012, in Portland. She was 71.
Rotraud "Trudy" Elizabeth Maria Prewitt was born Oct. 18, 1940, in Innsbruck, Austria to August and Frieda Knapp Mathofer, and was the youngest of four children.
She lived in Frankfort, Germany, when her husband served in the U.S. Army, and moved to the United States later.
For two years she lived in Salt Lake City and then relocated to Beaverton where she resided for 38 years.
She was a teacher's aide for many years at Fern Grove Elementary and Greenway Elementary schools before working for sixteen years at Learning World Day Care in Beaverton.
In 1999 she received her Bachelor's Degree in education from Portland State University.
In 2009 she moved to St. Helens from Vernonia.
While in Vernonia she attended Community Church of Vernonia and then Grace Baptist Church in Warren for the last two years.
She is survived by her son, Klaus of St. Helens. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gustav and Dieter Mathofer; and a sister.
A memorial gathering will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Grace Baptist Church in Warren.
