Valerie Sue Rude's Obituary
Valerie Sue Rude was born on April 29, 1947 in Seattle, WA. to Marshall & Jean Siler James.
She died at her home in St. Helens on January 14, 2005 at the age of 57.
Valerie moved to the Portland and West Linn areas as a young adult, graduating from West Linn Hi School in '65. She went on to Emanuel school of nursing to become a registered nurse. He last occupation was a home health care nurse for Legacy Visiting Nurses Association.
She was married to Guy Greenfield in 1966, he was killed in action in Vietnam in January of 1968. On November 22, 1969 she married Terry Rude in Camas, WA.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was in the Bell Choir and on the church council.
One of her favorite activities was gardening. Valerie was very proud of her yard which she designed and did much of it herself. She rediscovered how much she enjoyed camping, and completed more than a dozen camping trips in 2004.
Her first love and her most passionate interest was for her family.
Survivors include: Husband: Terry Rude of St. Helens; Son & Daughter-in-law: Bryan & Sayako Greenfield serving in IRAQ in the US Army; Daughter & Son-in-law: Jennifer Lynn & Adrian Bernal of Jackson, Wyoming; Mother: Jean James & Sister: Wendy James both of Corvallis, OR.; Brother: Alan James of Brinnon, WA.; 3 grandchildren; Nathan, Adam & Rebekah Bernal.
Numerous brother & sister-in-laws, nieces & nephews.
Memorial service: Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 1:00 PM at First Lutheran Church-St. Helens, OR.
Private family service & interment: Randle Cemetery in Randle, WA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Legacy Visiting Nurses Association.
