Verona A. Nickel's Obituary
Verona A. Nickel was born on September 20, 1915 in Willow City, North Dakota to William & Elizabeth Erdman Niewoehner.
She died at a St. Helens nursing home on June 5, 2008 at the age of 92.
Verona attended and graduated from Glenburn, North Dakota in 1933, she went on to college in Minneapolis, studying music.
She worked as a "rosey the riviter" during the war in California, that became somewhat of a boring job so she went to work for Chrysler Corporation.
They were married in Pasadena, California on June 18, 1944, later moving to North Dakota where they farmed.
On February 17, 1965 they moved to St. Helens, Oregon where they have resided since.
She was baptized in the Lutheran denomination and was active in Willow Creek Lutheran Church in Willow Creek, North Dakota and the Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Helens, Oregon. In both church's she played the organ and sang in the choir and helped out with any jobs that needed being done.
She was a homemaker and her interests included cooking, baking and was a great hostess. She was very musical and played the violin. She loved flowers and her family very much. She taught kindergarden at Snoopyland for 1 year.
Survivors include: Husband: Clarence Nickel of Saint Helens, Oregon; Children: Teresa Sato of Banning, California; Jody Nickel of Portland, Oregon; David Nickel of Lions, Oregon; Heidi Ralls of Deer Island, Oregon; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Bonnie Nickel in 1996.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, June 10, 2008 both at Columbia Funeral Home-Saint Helens, Oregon.
Committal service & vault interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Scappoose, Oregon.
