Veronica Louise "Ronnie" Stotts' Obituary
An Angel has returned to Heaven. On March 13, 2019, our amazing, very much-loved mom/grandma/great-grandma passed away very peacefully at the age of 98.
Ronnie was born on January 11, 1921, in upstate New York to George and Stephania Carp. She was the second of three sisters who grew up happy and working hard on their beautiful family farm. Her older sister, Anna Clairmont (100), still lives in New York. Her younger sister, Judy Marx, predeceased her.
Ronnie graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School in 1938, and received her Associate's degree from the New York State School of Agriculture in 1941. Shortly thereafter, she enlisted in the Navy WAVES. It was while she was in the Navy that she met her future husband, Charles Donald Stotts. She had gone roller skating with friends, and a tall handsome fellow was skating backwards, talking and joking with her. He was very charming, and they were happily married for 63 years when Chuck passed away in 2011.
Ronnie and Chuck raised three sons while starting their business, Nylon Wholesale, Inc., in Portland, Oregon. As it grew, Nylon Wholesale, Inc. was relocated to Scappoose, Oregon, where they built their warehouse in the current location of the Fitness Connection. They continued to expand, moving to an even larger location back in Portland. Ronnie and Chuck loved their business and their employees.
Ronnie retired when her first granddaughter, Veronica Nicole, was born in 1980, and was the best grandma ever, known all over town as simply “Grandma.” All of her grandchildren, their friends, and the neighbor children loved and adored her. She was so very kind and loving.
Ronnie was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, and of the American Business Women's Association.
Ronnie is survived by her sister, Anna Clairmont; her son and daughter-in-law, George and Peggy Stotts; her daughter-in-law, Katrina Stotts; her grandchildren: Veronica Sullivan and husband Jason Sullivan; Kaarina Stotts; Angela Stotts and husband Beau Brian; and David Stotts; as well as her three great-grandsons: Aarin Hoygaard, Henry Sullivan, and Leo Brian.
She is celebrating in Heaven now with her sister, Judy Marx; her husband, Charles D. Stotts; her sons, Charles R. Stotts and Arthur D. Stotts, and countless other relatives and dear friends.
To have known Ronnie is to have known unconditional love, strength, and kindness. We have been very blessed and are very grateful.
Her memorial will be held on May 11, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at Columbia Memorial Gardens, with Father Charles Wood officiating. She will also receive full military honors.
