Victor M. Rolf's Obituary
Victor Rolf died on January 27, 2006 at St. Helens, Oregon at the age of 89. He was born on October 9, 1916 in Bergen Township, Minnesota to Frederick and Meta Knacke Rolf. He attended school at District 19, and parochial schools.
As a young man he rode freight trains west to work harvesting fields in the Dakotas, and agricultural work and logging in Montana. In 1946 he met Mayme Ess at Victor, Montana and they were married January 5, 1947. They farmed in Minnesota for 10 years, moved to Montana where they farmed and Victor worked in building maintenace at Montana State University in Missoula. In 1966 they moved to Oregon where he worked in heavy construction until his retirement in 1980. In retirement he gardened, made lumber with his sawmill, and built farm machinery and farm wagons in his shop.
He is survived by Mayme, his wife of 59 years, son and daughters-in-law, Fred & Peggy Rolf, Philip & LeeAnn Elaine Rolf, Bruce & Jennifer Rolf, and daughters and sons-in-law Christine & Larry Stevens, Diane & Mark Ebert, and daughter Elaine Rolf. In addition, he is survived by a sister Lorna Lund, of Richfield, MN. and sister-in-law Lenore Rolf of Winsted, MN. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Herbert Rolf & Elmer Rolf, a sister Hilda Vaughn, and a granddaughter Bethany Stevens. Numerous nieces & nephews.
There will be no public service, but a private family gathering will be held at Diane & Mark Ebert's home 800 I St.- Columbia City, OR.
