Victor Riley Lufkin's Obituary
Victor R. Lufkin was born in Tama, Iowa on September 1, 1909 to Charles & Frances Riley Lufkin.
He died in a Portland hospital on February 21, 2004 at the age of 94.
He moved to Yankton, OR. in 1917 with his parents from Iowa. He attended schools in the area and on October 15, 1938 he married Esther Amelia Roth.
They bought 2 acres of property in Warren, where they built a home and raised there 7 children. The homestead remained with them until the fall of 2003.
He was in construction all of his life. He helped build Trojan, Columbia Theatre and Dari Delish.
His enjoyments included gardening, he was famous for his large potatoes. Giving produce to people out of his garden was his Christmas.
He also raised cattle, they were his pride and joy, meant more to his than his children.
After retirement he built a new garage for his carpentry where he built windmills, minature size cabins, bird houses and many more items. He punched in and out of the workshop just as he would have done at a regular job.
He loved photography, taking pictures of his yard, travels and things he made for family & friends throughout the whole process.
He had a very large sweet tooth. He never turned down a piece of pie or pastry. Meat & potatoes was his staple of life with lots & lots of brown gravy.
