Walter Alden Butler's Obituary
Walter Alden Butler passed away at the age of 85 on February 6, 2022, at Columbia Care Center in Scappoose, Oregon.
Walter was born July 19, 1936, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Evelyn and Walter Butler. As a child, Walter moved to the Pacific Northwest, graduating from Neahkahnie High School in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. He spent most of his adult life in Aloha, Oregon, with a brief move to Scappoose, Oregon, before eventually retiring in Ocean Park, Washington.
Along with being a certified mechanic, Walter worked as a foreman of ILWU Local 92 and as a longshoreman of ILWU Local 8 and served as a President to both locals. He also served as an M.P. in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Walter was a devout Christian and a member of the Elks club. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, and only son, Walter.
Walter is survived by his three sisters, Sherry, Rosalee, and Terry; his two daughters, Teresa and Debra; his six grandchildren, Heather, James, Jenna, Ashley, Walter and Scott; his eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graveside military honors service will be held in Walter’s honor on March 2, 2022, at 1:30 PM at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated. Alz.org
