Wayne Wallace Wells' Obituary
Mr. Wells died at a local Portland hospital February 26th. He was 86 years old.
Born August 25, 1924 in Gold Beach, Oregon to Herman Eugene and Iva Muriel Winn Wells, Wayne was an only child. Raised in Milton Freewater, he graduated from Mc Loughlin High School. He played football and lettered in track. He spent many an afternoon at Iva's Cafe, his mother restaurant.
A short time later he joined the United States Navy during WWII, serving from 1943 until 1946. When he came home he married Meliitta Pernu. From this marriage they had a son. Wayne was an accountant by trade and worked for Darigold in Walla Walla, Washington before leaving for Portland to work for Sunny Brook Farms that later became Foremost Dairy. He work for them over 10 years from 1958-1968. He then worked for King Size Photo for over 10 years and retired from them. He enjoyed keeping busy so he worked part-time after retirement.
Even after retirement he kept busy, golfing and mall walking 5 days a week at Washington Square. He did this until just 3 years ago. He was a 40 + year member of the Mazama's club and a member of the Multnomah Elks Lodge. He moved to St. Helens in 2009 to be close to family.
He is survived by his son Lynn Wells of Scappoose, grandchildren, Wendy Barnes and Brian Wells, great granddaughter; Amber Barnes.
