William J. Harris' Obituary
William J. "Bill" Harris was born July 28, 1934 and died May 28, 2009 at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon. He is survived by his wife; Kathie Sherlock Harris of St. Helens, Oregon, sisters; Shirley Chavers and Linda Fugate of Meridian, Idaho, several nieces, nephews, a step-daughter; Theresa Mrs. Peter Kaufman of New York, and two granddaughters; Maddie Kate and Ruby Lee also of New York.
Bill was born in Adrian, Oregon. He graduated from high school in Vale, Oregon and received his undergraduate degree at Eastern Oregon College in LaGrande. He also received his Masters in Education and Counseling at Ohio University. Bill taught Elementary School in Pendelton and Redmond and was a Middle School counselor in Beaverton where he retired in 1990.
Bill enjoyed many activities including fishing, going to garage sales, hunting, food preservation, fixing and collecting, riding his snowmobile, clamming, panning for gold, metal detecting, gardening, watching sport events, and spending time with his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens on Monday June 1, 2009 at 10:00 am. Private inurnment followed at Columbia Memorial Gardens in Scappoose.
