William Robert Shober's Obituary
Bill passed away at Vancouver, Washington, February 10th. He was 78 years old.
Born June 29, 1932, in Marmarth, North Dakota to James and Grace Campbell Shober. He was the youngest of three sons. The family moved to Portland where he attended Benson Polytechnic High School. He married June Sprague at her parent's home in Portland, July 10, 1953. The next year he joined the service and served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He moved his family to Scappoose in 1960 where he has resided until his death. Bill worked for Container Corp of Seattle and for many years for Stan McCambridge Garbage Service as a "Sanitation Engineer" and then for Reiman Mc Kenney as a wielder. Bill enjoyed living in Columbia County with all the fishing and hunting a man could benefit from.
He was also a member of the St. Helens Moose Lodge and the VFW Post #4362 of Scappoose. He was part of an elite group of Wigwam Teepee Creepers and Icabod's Ol' Duffer's Club.
Bill is survived by his wife June married over 57 years, children; Robert "Bob" and Lori Shober of Scappoose, Dolly Scully of Coco Beach, Florida and Roger Shober of St. Helens, Oregon, grandchildren; Clifton, James, Tyler and David of Scappoose, Michael of Florida, great grandchildren; Dylan and Max of Scappoose, Caitlyn of Florida and a new one to arrive in July. Preceded in death by brothers Richard and Kenneth Shober.
