Bonnie, Rebecca, Bev, Carmen and family,
I was honored to get to know Wylie and your family during his brief stay at Good Samaritan Medical Center. I was impressed by Bonnie's description of Wylie as "a man of prayer," and I felt grateful to hold his hand and pray with him in my role as a chaplain. Wylie always had a warm and dapper scarf around his neck, and he was almost always accompanied by someone who loved him. You all did a beautiful job keeping vigil and making compassionate choices for Wylie during his last few days.
When I sang classic hymns like "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing," and "I Am The Bread of Life," it seemed to me that Wylie showed signs of recognition by moving a hand or twitching a lip or opening an eye.
I'm sorry that I will be out of town on 2/2, and I wish all of you God's blessing in your grief; that God will be your companion through it and that you will meet Wylie in unexpected places within and beyond it.
Love and peace to you,
Chaplain Jennifer
