It's that time of year.
I can't believe it's been so long.
Every year...around this time, I can always find you in my dreams.
It's hard. It makes me sad at times.
But, I'm so glad to have had you, and always glad to see you. 🖤 Always.
I met Corey in Alaska when we were both in the AF. He was absolutely crazy. Never have I met anyone as unique as him. The piercings, tattoos, ICP music, weird drawings, and talk of faygo. That’s what made him different. He was an outsider but always had a soft side. We loved to go camping and share a night on the town. Living in the dorms was the shit! He made everything more fun.
I have had him on my mind since I left AK in 2005. I’ve been searching for him to see how he was. Sadly a friend of mind dig this up. So many crazy stories and memories. I miss you buddy. Why did you have to go so young? If someone could please inform me of how I would appreciate it. Love ya
Corey, my wonderful friend. I still can't believe you are gone, you will never be forgotten. Corey and I met playing poker, I was the tournament director for Nationwide Poker Tour, when I met you and your dad. We became such good friends, I loved you guys so much. I always was so happy to see you. My life has been truly blessed knowing you, and having you a part of my life. I truly will miss you very much. Many people from poker have asked me to offer there concolences. My heart goes out to your family, and to your beloved Heather. Corey was definatley a extraordinary young man, and a constant joy to have had the pleasure to know. Cory, I have one passion in my life, music, that I attribute you with my finding. I didn't know who the pixies were, or NIN, until you and my brother became such friends. That finding sparked the passion that I still hold today. I'll never forget that. You will always be my best friend. You taught me that I can be myself and it doesn't matter what other people think, because of that I am a better person. I will always carry that with me. I love you guys and I wish I could be there with you. I will always remember the good times and all the laughs Corey and I shared. I'll never forget hanging out in his Grandparent's camper rocking out to Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Pixies. Then sneaking out to drink 40 oz's and skateboarding all over town. Making napalm and lighting things on fire was always fun too.

I was absolutely heart broken when I opened up the paper to read of Corey's passing. I have very fond memories of Corey being his co-worker at McDonald's and all his crazy antics. I loved how he embraced everything with his "don't care" attitude, but still would do anything to honor his friendships. He had a carefree disposition that was admirable by many. My love...my life. You have taught me so much, about love, about life...but mostly about myself. You reminded me that it was ok to be myself, and not concern myself with what others think and not let their judgement affect you. You taught me to be selfless. You taught me respect, kindness and compassion. You showed me maturity, strength, drive and devotion. But the thing that stands out, above and beyond anything else, is that you taught me how to love and respect myself. You made me feel like I was worth something, like I was a good person and most of all like I CAN do anything I set my mind to.
