Delburt E. Powell's Obituary
Delburt E. Powell was born on August 29, 1937 in Rexburg, Idaho to Burt L. & Leona Allen Powell.
He died at a Portland hospital on November 25, 2007 at the age of 70.
He attended Brigham Young University for 1 year and then onto Portland State University. He received 3 masters degrees. While at BYU he played football.
He moved to St. Helens in 1946 until present. He married Marie Olson on 10/21/1960 in St. Helens.
He taught Biology and was a coach at Rainier High school, a councilor and vice-principle at Scappoose High School and finally principle at Scappoose Middle School, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served a 2 year mission in North Carolina from '56-'58 and he was very dedicated to the church.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, he also enjoyed vegetable gardening, tending to his cattle and sheep, woodworking and a general handiman, always a biology teacher, and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include: Wife: Marie Powell of Warren, OR.; 2 children: Shannon Naboulsi of Portland; John Powell of Sugar City, Utah; Siblings: Leon Powell of Roseburg, OR.; Wayne Powell of Deer Island, OR.; Larene Kelley of Warren, OR.; Ted Powell of Rainier, OR.; 5 grandchildren. Preceded in death by siblings: Leo & Lyle-'45, LeRoy-'59.
Viewing & Visitation: 9-5 Wednesday at Columbia Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Thursday 11/29/07 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Dedication of the grave & interment: Bethany Memorial Cemetery, Warren, Oregon.
