Dorothy O. Carpenter's Obituary
Dorothy O. Carpenter Dodie of Warren passed away June 14th 2012, she was 81.
Dorothy was born in St. Johns New Brunswick, Canada on June 20th 1930 to Reed and Daisy Fail. Due to her father's work Dorothy moved across the country when she was a young girl, with the family settling in Toledo Oregon for her High School years.
Dorothy met James R. Carpenter, married and moved to St. Helens, Oregon where Jim worked for the railroad. Dorothy worked for US Bank, Safeway, and Thomas's Grocery store. Jim and Dorothy raised 4 children, with Dorothy shuttling them to swim practice, meets, and school functions. Dorothy was selfless in caring for her family and friends. She ended her career with over 20 years working for Ben Sharp at Sherlock's Grocery.
She enjoyed reading, shopping, friends, taking trips to Reno with family, and time at the St. Helens Senior Center. In her retirement she volunteered at the Columbia County Court House and the Senior Thrift Store. Her Favorite things were her family, friends, and Grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Jim Carpenter and her brother John Fail.
She is survived by her daughter Connie Gardner Brian, Cathy Carpenter, Casey Vanderkin, son Dan Carpenter Lisa, Grandkids Kelly, Kimberly, Grant, Amy, Brooke, David, and great grandson Chase.
There will be a gathering to remember Dorothy on June 29, 2012 at 6pm at the St. Helens Elks Lodge in St. Helens.
Donations to the Thanksgiving House; 184 2nd Street, St. Helens, Oregon would make Dorothy happy, as this was her last home, a place where Angels loved and cared for her.
