Jack B. McNabb's Obituary
Jack Barr McNabb passed away at 6:40 AM on Monday, February 8, 2010. He was 81 years of age.
The beloved patriarch of the Scappoose McNabb Clan was married to Shirley Jean McNabb for almost 50 years. Jack was a native Oregonian, born on October 10, 1928 in Portland, Oregon and lived most of his early adult life in Newberg. As a young adult he worked in the shipyards in Portland. He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948. In 1962 he moved to Scappoose to continue working for Crown Zellerbach in the forest industry. He worked for the forest industry for over 30 years before retiring from Crown Zellerbach/James River Corporation in 1985.
Jack McNabb was a handsome, charismatic when he wanted to be fellow. He had tremendous passion for his large family, music and sports; especially football and boxing. Jack was a voracious reader with a passion for history and geography. He had a great love for his wife, Jeannie, his mother Billie, and his children. His only sibling, Douglas Vale McNabb's tragic death was mourned by Jack his entire live.
Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley Jean; his children: Douglas McNabb, Nancy McNabb, Vale McNabb, Sean McNabb, Shannon McNabb-Burke, Barbara Luoto, Michele Bruney, and Cindy Keane; 26 Grandchildren, and 25 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and son, Paul Smith.
A family gathering will be on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the family's home from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM – 33782 SE Elm Street – Scappoose.
