Mr. Reed was a great man and I will never forget him. He was hard to read most of the time but I always loved to see him smile sending prayers and thoughts he will never be forgotten by any who's life he touched I'm so sorry for your loss

Mr. Reed was a great person and one that I respected! I miss our talks, laughs, and encouragement I could always count on from a great role model.
What a wonderful man the community lost recently. Jan Reed was an outstanding educator for many years, and I had the pleasure of working with him during his last 6 yrs. An excellent math teacher at S.H.H.S., then during his last three years he served as my Asst. Principal. That was when I drew so close to him. An Asst. Principal usually must deal with the majority of school discipline, and obviously that is not an easy task, especially at the high school level. However, no matter how stressed we would get over disciplinary situations, Jan could ALWAYS put things into perspective and after talking about the incidents/ students/ parents/whatever, he would leave me with a smile as he would often just say the right thing to help me refocus and again see the roses that are around us all of the time, not just the weeds! Delores, Mark and the rest of the family, our prayers go out for you at the loss of this guy, but I tell you one thing, he sure made a difference in my life and career! God Bless all of you.
Mr. Reed was one of the most influential teachers in my youth. I took Calculus from him back in 1989-90. A small group of us would go in early before school to get help on our homework, but somehow most of our time spent with him usually turned into him listening to us talk about our "stressful" teenage problems. He was so patient, kind, and full of wisdom. I will forever remember his great sense of humor and his big smile. I am very sorry for your loss...he was a great man.

I had him for General Math in my freshman year. I hated him. I was constantly getting kicked out of his class, until the day came I was booted permanently. However, when he became vice principal, I realised how cool he truly was. He cared about students, not just as students but as people. I would visit with him after I graduated, until he retired. He was a good man. My thoughts are with you all.

I got to know Mr Reed as Vice Principal my freshman year. He would always try to talk me through my behavior issues, always reminding me that I had a choice. He loved talking about how his daughter's name was Shawna also. Even as disciplinary, he tried be amicable and encourage better choices. I'll never forget him. I had Mr. Reed my senior year for math/algebra. I actually returned my sophomore year of college for some tutoring! He was always passionate about education and helping his students succeed. They broke the mold on Mr. Reed. My deepest condolences to his family, he was a great man.
