Jan Raymond Reed of Scappoose, Oregon died April 16, 2015. He was 82.
Mr. Reed was born Dec. 15, 1932, to Raymond and Ruth Reed in Portland, Oregon.
Raised in Scappoose, he graduated from Scappoose High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
On Sept. 25, 1954, he married Delores Kocarnik.
In 1966 he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University and in 1970 a Master’s degree from the University of Oregon.
A mathematics teacher and vice principal at St. Helens High School, he retired in 1995.
He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed traveling and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores Reed; sons, Mark (Debbie) Reed of Scappoose, Oregon and Paul (Anita) Reed of North Bend, Washington; daughters, Maria (Tom) Lambright of Seattle, Washington, Lisa Reed of Aloha, Oregon, and Shawna Beutler of Scappoose, Oregon; brother, Robert “Pete” Reed of Moro Bay, California; and grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Blanchard of St. Helens, Oregon, Krista Reed of Seattle, Washington, Jaryn Reed of North Bend, Washington, Joe Lambright of Bellingham, Washington, Julia Lambright of Anaheim, California, Mary Kate Lambright of Seattle, Washington, Sam Devedjian of Aloha, Oregon, and Ellie Beutler and Aimie Beutler, both of Scappoose, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Reed; and mother, Ruth Reed DeGroote.
