Jewel "Goldie" Velma Smith's Obituary
Jewel Velma Smith (Goldie) 92, passed away at home in Scappoose, Oregon on November 23, 2023, Thanksgiving Day. Heaven has another loved one. She was born December 1, 1930, to Albert and Julia Self.
She attended Scappoose schools. Her father worked for the Corp of Engineers, building our dike along the Multnomah channel. That’s why the family property is on the Dike Land, so he could walk to work.
Jewel’s life was spent on this land, growing up and raising a family. She enjoyed music, visiting with family and friends, flowers, traveling, church, singing, and spending time with ladies at the church.
Jewel is survived by her family, son Phillip Smith and daughter-in-law Ramona Douglas; grandchildren and families, Brandon, Kellie, Ashton, Garrett, Ethan, Paige, and Gina Smith of St. Helens; Tina Hall, Joel, and children; Jana, Jaycee, AJay, and their children; Jim Kecs and his children; Jeffery Penticost and his family; Danelle Maness and her family; Sandy Lee Maness; Jim Smith and his children; Wendy Smith and her family; Scott Smith and his family; Tamara Smith and her family; Nate Smith and his family; nieces and nephews, Bill and Chris Smith and kids; Dennis and Sandy Smith and children of Sitka, Alaska; Faye, Patty, Carol Smith and kids; Lonnie, Judy, Robin, Dana, Judi Self and their families; Gloria and Richard Swihart and families; the Couch families in Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, California, and all their children; the Frazier family in Ohio; the Campbell family in Ohio; Kim and Kenny Self and kids; Theresa Smith and children; Kami Smith of Scappoose; Joni Smith and Jessica Palmer; Jewel’s friends at the Church of the Nazarene in St. Helens; Beverly and Arthur Castor; Mike and Latesha Rector; Ken and Effie Shipman; Peach Weiss; Gordon and Geneva Blackburn; Tracie Dorie; Eileen Stewart; Sheila and the rest.
Goldie was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim; her sons Jim and Ron; her daughters Sandy and Linda, all mentioned were from Scappoose, or Alaska.
Jewel will rest at Columbia Memorial Gardens with the rest of her family.
