Lorena J. Gentry's Obituary
Lorena J. Gentry
My dear mother, Lorena, unexpectedly passed away from a fall on January 26, 2009.
Lorena was born June 17, 1923 to Lewis and Florence Cross in Union, Oregon. She graduated from Union High School in 1941. She married Donald R. Gentry at Weiser, Idaho in March of 1943. Mr. Gentry passed away in September of 2000.
My parents moved to the Portland area in 1951. In 1953, they moved to Scappoose. After my father's passing, mother moved to the Springlake community in Scappoose where she resided until her death.
Mother was a housewife, a job she excelled at. Cooking, canning, and sewing were just a few of her accomplishments. She was profuse letter writer. She loved to travel and was fortunate enough to tour Europe, China, Australia, and New Zealand as well as numerous places in the United States. After my parents retired, they spent summers in Eastern Oregon working my father's "gold mine." Her passion was playing Bingo. She and her gal-pals formed a Bingo group that endured for over 40 years. She was a long time member of the Chapman Grange and also volunteered at the Seniors Bread Outlet.
She will be deeply missed by me, her daughter, Patty, and son-in-law Patrick King, granddaughter and husband, Kelli and Mark Adams, grandson and wife, Rich and Robin King, 3 great-grandchildren, her sister Venita Depue of Hermiston, Oregon. Several nieces and nephews, and her many friends at Springlake and Rose Valley Retirement Center will also miss her.
I love you Mama, Patty K.
My thanks to the Scappoose Fire and Rescue team for their care and concern.
At her request, there will be no funeral.
