Malyssa Suzanne Settle's Obituary
Malyssa Suzanne Settle passed away on January 31, 2023 at the age of 54. She was born March 23rd, 1968 to Jerry and Carolyn (Covel) Kowaleski in St. Helens, Oregon.
Malyssa lost her parents at an early age and was raised by her grandmother Viola Kowaleski.
She graduated from St. Helens High School, class of 1986. She attended 2 years of College at PCC and earned her master certifications in water fitness. Malyssa was a member of the St. Helens High School band and was first chair clarinet. She was also an athlete who played basketball, softball and volleyball. She was the first girl in St. Helens to be on a boys Little League team. She also enjoyed writing, art, reading and photography.
Malyssa was a runner, having twice participated in the Hood to Coast. She began her career as a preschool teacher. Later at Eisenschmidt Pool in St. Helens she was a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons. She eventually found her passion leading water aerobics. She had many ladies who enjoyed having her as their instructor. She also taught water aerobics at several resorts in Jamaica.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years Greg Settle, her daughters Jasmyne Parent of Magnolia Texas and Chloe Settle of Eugene Oregon, her brother Dan (Holly) Kowaleski of Sherwood Oregon, and sister Jeanine (Ray) Bartley of St. Helens, along with four grandchildren; Ava, Penelope, Beau and Margaret. She was preceded in death by her Father Jerry Kowaleski, Mother Carolyn (Covel) Kowaleski, Brother Casey Kowaleski, Grandmother Viola Kowaleski, and most recently by her Aunt, Bette Manly.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Best Western Oak Meadows Inn in St. Helens, Oregon.
Malyssa was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
