Mary Stewart Smith
August 28, 1919 - April 23, 2015
Mary Smith passed away at Spring Meadows Assisted Living on April 23, 2015 at the age of 95.
She was born August 28, 1919 in Victoria BC, Canada to George and Anne (McNaught) Stewart. She graduated from Victoria High School in 1937 and on August 21, 1940 she married Jack Charles Smith in Victoria BC. Mary and Jack moved to the Portland area in 1940 right after they married, after the war and schooling they moved to St. Helens 1955 before settling in Warren in 1956.
Mary was a very active member of Grace Baptist Church, she was involved in vacation bible school, a Sunday school teacher, a wedding coordinator and she helped in the church kitchen. She and Jack also volunteered for 17 years at the Cannon Beach Bible Conference and hosted many foreign exchange students and missionaries. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking.
Mary is survived by her daughters; Jil (Chuck) Wardle, Pati (Bob) Fogal and Nancy (Tim) Hart, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Charles Smith and her son Jack Stewart Smith.
A private graveside service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Willamette National Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church 58690 Ross Road, Warren, OR 97053.
