Millard Estes, Jr's Obituary
Sonny died peacefully at his home in Scappoose on May 26th, he was 75 years of age.
Sonny was born, Millard Monroe Estes, Jr. the youngest of two children born to Millard Monroe Estes, Sr and Ruth Louise Byrum Estes. Raised in Longview he graduated from R.A. Long High School class of 1955. He was quite the athlete; lettering in Football, Baseball, track and basketball. After he graduated he married his high school sweetheart Virginia Kay Bryan in Lewiston, Idaho on June 10, 1955. From this union they had three children.
Sonny was a Maintenance Supervisor working for International Paper and Summit Timber for a total of thirty seven years before retiring in 1998 at 62 years old. The family moved to Scappoose in 1998 from Darrington, Washington. He was a member of the Battle ground Elks Lodge.
Sonny is survived by his wife Kay of 57 years, daughter and son-in-law; Lynda Stenlund Rick of Sauvie Island, grandchildren; Andrea Lundin and Casey Stenlund. Preceded in death by his children; Deborah and Sandra Estes, sister; Barbara Louse Sims.
Celebrate Sonny's life at a gathering at The Shamrock Tavern, 1131 15th Ave, Longview, 4-7PM, Saturday, June 9th.
